Terms of service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and [YOUR FULL NAME OR BUSINESS NAME] (“we”, “us”), the operator of Stardeck at joinstardeck.site. By signing in or otherwise using Stardeck, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Stardeck.

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
• You need your own GitHub account in good standing. One Stardeck account per person.
• GitHub accounts younger than 30 days can browse and skip, but can't like, star or submit projects.

Stardeck lets you submit one open-source project at a time and discover other people's projects. You can like projects (up to 10 per rolling 24 hours) and, if you choose, have Stardeck star the project on GitHub for you when you like it (up to 10 per 24 hours, spaced out). The leaderboard ranks projects by likes on Stardeck, not by GitHub stars.

We may change, limit or discontinue any part of the service, including these limits, at any time.

Stardeck is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GitHub, Inc. “GitHub” is a trademark of GitHub, Inc.

• You remain bound by GitHub's Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policies, which prohibit inauthentic activity such as trading, buying or selling stars or follows.
• Each star is an action taken on your GitHub account at your request. Only star projects you genuinely find useful. You are responsible for the stars you give.
• Our limits are designed to help keep activity natural, but we don't control GitHub and can't guarantee how GitHub treats your account or the stars it receives or gives. We are not responsible for any action GitHub takes, including removing stars or restricting accounts.
• You can revoke Stardeck's access at any time in your GitHub settings, or by deleting your Stardeck account.

• You may only submit public repositories that you own or administer.
• You keep all rights to your project and pitch. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display them on Stardeck (including the public leaderboard and live feed) for as long as they are submitted.
• Your pitch must be accurate and describe the project honestly.

You must not submit or write anything that:

• asks for stars, follows or other engagement in return (“star for star”, “I'll star back”);
• is illegal, infringes anyone's rights, or links to malware, phishing or harmful code;
• is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or impersonates someone else;
• is spam, or misrepresents what the project is or who made it.

You must not:

• use bots, scripts or automation to swipe, like, star or submit;
• use multiple accounts, or coordinate with others to inflate likes or stars;
• try to get around rate limits, view timers or any other restriction;
• scrape the service, overload it, or interfere with its security or other users;
• access accounts or data that aren't yours.

If you find a security vulnerability, please report it privately to hello@joinstardeck.site. Good-faith research that respects user privacy and doesn't disrupt the service is welcome.

We may remove projects or pitches, reset likes gained through abuse, and suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms or put the platform or other users at risk, with or without notice.

You can stop using Stardeck and delete your account at any time from your dashboard. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) continue to apply.

Stardeck is provided “as is” and “as available”, free of charge, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, availability or accuracy. We don't guarantee any number of likes, stars or visitors for your project, and we don't review or endorse the projects listed. Open third-party code at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, reputation, stars, followers or GitHub account access, arising from your use of Stardeck. Our total liability for any claim relating to Stardeck is limited to INR 1,000. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of GitHub's terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of [CITY, STATE] have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings where you live.

We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, show a notice on Stardeck before they take effect. Continuing to use Stardeck after that means you accept the updated Terms. Questions: hello@joinstardeck.site.
